The NSU Library maintains different levels of acceptable noise in different areas to facilitate a variety of learning and coursework needs. On the Tahlequah campus, expected volume levels are assigned to specific floors as follows:
- The 1st floor allows for a everyday level of discussion, activity, and other noise. It is often where classes or other large groups choose to meet.
- The 2nd floor allows an intermediate amount of noise, with any activity or discussion expected to be kept within your immediate area. It is often where smaller study groups or projects choose to meet.
- The 3rd floor is reserved for quiet study, with noise expected to be kept to a low level or whisper. It is often where independent study or test taking is performed.
The Broken Arrow campus library has specific sections in various locations marked off as quiet areas. However, the majority of the first floor allows for a normal level of volume.
Yelling, screaming, blasting music, and other overly disruptive noise is prohibited in the NSU Library. Should your level of noise exceed the level expected of the floor you will be asked to lower your volume. Continued refusal will result in being dismissed from the Library.
